NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe: Azerbaijan is a reliable partner for the Alliance

“Azerbaijan has become a reliable partner for NATO which is continuing to contribute to the Alliance’s activities in different areas,” said NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) Curtis Scaparrotti as he met with Azerbaijan’s Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov.
He praised the country's contribution to the peacekeeping operations and the professionalism of Azerbaijani soldiers showed in the operations carried out in Afghanistan. Scaparrotti also commended Azerbaijan for its struggle against terrorism.
He thanked the leadership of Azerbaijan for hosting his meeting with the Chief of General Staff of Russian Armed Forces in Baku.
Minister Hasanov hailed high-level military cooperation between the North Atlantic Alliance and Azerbaijan. He pointed out the successful participation of Azerbaijan’s military troops in NATO-led trainings and programs, especially Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan.
Touching upon the military-political situation in the region, minister Hasanov stressed the importance of solving the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and international law.
Hasanov said that Azerbaijan highly appreciates NATO's position on its territorial integrity and sovereignty, and expressed his confidence that the Alliance would continue its efforts in this area.
