Attended by the Azerbaijani MPs the 13th session of the specialized committees of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (PUIC) has kicked off in Tehran, the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The issue of the settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was included in the agenda of the PUIC Committee on Political Affairs and Foreign Relations.
The 13th session of the Parliamentary Union unanimously adopted two draft resolutions introduced by the Azerbaijani delegation, the one concerned Armenia's aggression against Azerbaijan and the memory of the Khojaly genocide victims.
The committee meetings also focused on a number of topical issues, including the migration and refugee problem, and combating terrorism, Islamophobia and xenophobia.
The Azerbaijani delegation raised the issue of violated rights of refugees and internally displaced persons who were driven out from their homes as a result of the Armenian occupation. The Azerbaijani parliamentarians also highlighted tolerance existing in Azerbaijan. The event participants described tolerance in Azerbaijan as a role model for other countries.
The session will feature the election of a new Secretary General and Bureau members of the organization.
The event will culminate with the adoption of the final report and the Final Communique.
