Organized criminal group of fake visa makers unmasked
Baku, December 22 (AZERTAC). A criminal group of fake visa makers engaged for a long time in forgery of documents to get visas for residents of Baku and Azerbaijani regions and other crimes was unmasked, the press service of Prosecutor General Office said.
As a result of urgent measures undertaken on the appeal received by the Anti-Corruption Department under the Prosecutor General`s Office of Azerbaijan Republic, a member of the criminal group, executive director of the Baku-based Auro Azia Az ltd. tourism Company Yusifov Ilgar Karim oglu who promised the Baku resident Abbasov Natig Abbas oglu to get him a Schengen visa on the base of fake documents in return of AZN3 thousand as bribery, was detained. The executive director was arrested when he got the promised amount.
The Anti-Corruption Department under the Prosecutor General`s Office launched investigation to the case on the Article 311.1 (bribery) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan Republic.
The investigations revealed that the criminal group so far has forged references for many citizens on their employment in state and private companies, with high salary, reservation tickets for accommodation and flight, as well as forged inquiries and references on huge bank deposits to visit the European countries.
During the checkup conducted in the offices of the Auro Azia Az ltd. tourism Company and in Yusifov`s apartment, a large amount of cash without registration, passports of the citizens, the forms signed and stamped with seal of numerous state and private organizations, as well as other documents important for investigation, were discovered and taken.
It was also defined that 19 of the holders of the passports found in Yusifov`s apartment have already left the country and are in Europe, while 3 of them already settled in the European countries were deported back.
I. Yusifov was arrested as a crime suspect on the abovementioned article of Criminal Code.
Currently, the investigation is underway to define and bring to responsibility the other accomplices of the crime.
