Baku, May 24, AZERTAC
An Azerbaijani delegation led by Nigar Arpadarai, the UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP29, participated in the Climate Week held in Panama City, the capital of Panama, from May 19 to 23. As part of the visit, Nigar Arpadarai met with Panama's Minister of Environment Juan Carlos Navarro.
“Grateful for the warm welcome from Panamanian Environment Minister Juan Carlos Navarro. Panama continues to lead by example in the region, with a strong sustainable finance taxonomy and a multi-year goal of reducing emissions by prioritizing the energy and land use sectors. We also exchanged views on how to scale outcomes from the COP29 Presidency Action Agenda. As we look ahead, regional leadership like Panama’s will be essential in translating global ambition into local impact. Panama’s rich biodiversity and deep commitment to protecting its natural heritage make it a powerful voice in the climate conversation,” Arpadarai shared on her X account.
