Baku, July 25, AZERTAC
At least four PKK terrorists were "neutralized" during a counterterrorism operation in Turkey's southeastern Hakkari province on Wednesday, according to a security source, Anadolu Agency reported.
Turkish authorities often use the word "neutralized" in their statements to imply that the terrorists in question either surrendered or were killed or captured.
The terrorists were "neutralized" in an air-supported operation in Yuksekova district near the Iraqi border as they infiltrated into Turkey, added the source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.
Listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and the EU, the PKK has waged a wide-ranging terror campaign against the Turkish state since the mid-1980s, in which an estimated 40,000 people have been killed, including women and children.
