50,000 different types of trees to be planted in Sabirabad district

“50,000 different types of trees will be planted in Azerbaijan’s Sabirabad district as part of “Azerbaijan`s First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva’s initiative to plant 650,000 trees in the country in one day in order to mark the 650th birthday anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Imadaddin Nasimi,” representative of the District Executive Authority Gabil Mammadov has told AZERTAC.

He noted that the drip irrigation system will be used during the planting of these trees. “To this end, a water reservoir is being constructed and work is underway to lay the pipes. All Sabirabad residents will join this noble initiative with great pleasure,” he mentioned.

Mammadov said that this event would contribute to the improvement of evironment and to ensuring the healthier life for every person.

Initiated by Azerbaijan`s First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, this project aims to promote the legacy of Imadaddin Nasimi all over the world. Public figures, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps, executive authorities, non-governmental organizations and young volunteers will join the initiative.

Planting 650,000 trees in the country in one day will help reduce 2,6 thousand cubic meters of CO2 emissions each year. This will make also significant contribution to the climate change mitigation and environmental protection.

President Ilham Aliyev declared 2019 as a Year of Nasimi in Azerbaijan.
