7,850 police officers suspended in probe into failed coup attempt in Turkey

The crackdown on alleged coup plotters has spread to Turkey’s police department, with a total of 7,850 police officers, including high-ranking officials, suspended on the night of July 17, according to Hurriyet Daily.

The suspended police officers were called to the provincial police headquarters throughout the night and their weapons and police IDs were confiscated.
