AT CENTRAL ELECTION COMMITTEE
A regular session of the Central Election Committee chaired by Mazahir Panahov was held on July 8. First protocol of CEC session of June 21, 2003 was approved. Following was the report of Committee’s Secretary Ingilab Nasirov related to the approval of the persons, nominated to the members of district election committee, this issue was discussed and approved by voting. The approval of Samedov Abutalib Ganbar oglu, nominated by “Alliance in the name of Azerbaijan” Party, as a candidate to President was postponed till the next session.Then the creation of the working group for checking the authenticity of information in the electoral documents, submitted by candidates and political parties to CEC was discussed. The working group consisting of experts and specialists, proposed by Ministries of internal affairs, justice, finance, and taxes was created. CEC member Ilham Mammadov was elected as a chair of the working group. Representatives of the International Fund on Electoral Systems (IFES), embassies of Israel, Japan, USA, and OSCE Baku Office, as well as local and foreign mass media attended the session.
