AUTUMN SESSION OF MILLI MAJLIS OPENED
After Chairman of the Milli Majlis Murtuz Alasgarov announced the session opened, the state anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan sounded. Milli Majlis members kept minute’s silence in memory of deputy Shadman Huseyn, who died during the vacations.
Murtuz Alasgarov made a report on results of the spring session and the plans for autumn session’s activity. Up to 80 laws and resolutions, about 30 conventions and a number of agreements and accords have been approved during the period from spring and at the extraordinary session. At the extraordinary 12th session, they discussed the address of President Heydar Aliyev, approved the appointment of the First Vice President of State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) Ilham Aliyev to the post of Prime Minister of the republic.
Chairman of the Parliament underlined that the Election Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan was the most important legislative act passed during the spring session. The regulations on presidential, parliamentarian, municipal elections and all-nation referendum are reflected in this document. Not much time left until regular presidential elections in the country, the Central Election Commission has registered 12 contenders. The Electoral Code creates all conditions for holding fair and democratic elections, he said.
Milli Majlis went on a close cooperation with international organizations. At some international functions, our deputies, including Milli Mjalis delegation led by Ilham Aliyev to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, were defending just position of Azerbaijan.
The parliament has seriously prepared to the autumn session. The agenda of the session consists of 25 draft laws. Besides, draft laws, submitted to the parliament as legislative initiative of the President of related organizations will be discussed at the autumn session, Chairman said.
The plan of autumn session work was discussed by the deputies. There were offers on inspection of financial sources of political parties, taking relevant measures in concern of printed organs releasing reports violating the limits of law.
After the plan of actions was approved they session discussed some scheduled issues.
