AZERBAIJAN AGRICULTURE MINISTER MEETS ADJUTANT GENERAL OF OKLAHOMA
Azerbaijan`s Minister of Agriculture Ismat Abbasov met with Major General, Adjutant General of Oklahoma (USA) Harry Wyatt who is visiting Baku.
The meeting exchanged views over potential cooperation between Oklahoma and Azerbaijan.
Abbasov spoke on successful agrarian reforms conducted in Azerbaijan.
He underlined President Ilham Aliyev`s great attention to developing non-oil sector and boosting socio-economic development of the country`s regions.
The Azeri Minister noted strategic cooperation between Azerbaijan and USA is a high priority in both countries` foreign policy.
Ismat Abbasov appreciated the United States` assisting Azerbaijan in conducting reforms.
On his country`s conflict with Armenia over the Nagorno-Karabakh, Abbasov stressed Azerbaijanis living in frontier regions are suffering from Armenians` frequently violating ceasefire.
Harry Wyatt, in his turn, expressed the United States` support of Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The Mayor General praised the work done under a partnership program between Oklahoma and Azerbaijan.
According to Wyatt, oil industry and agriculture are number one priority in Oklahoma`s economic policy.
He also spoke of Oklahoma-based Nobel Foundation (NGO).
President of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), academician Mahmud Karimov, as well as the country`s scientists and officials of the Ministry of Education were present at the meeting.
