AZERBAIJAN, BULGARIA: BILATERAL RELATIONS EXPANDING

On 5 November, deputy foreign minister of Azerbaijan Araz Azimov met with the delegation led by defense minister of this country Nikolay Svinarov.

Greeting the guests, deputy foreign minister Araz Azimov estimated this visit as positive indication of the developing relations and military co-op between Bulgaria and Azerbaijan, expressed a hope that they would enhance and be useful for both sides. Mr. Azimov stressed the necessity of expanding the legal base set up for military cooperation, development of efficient cooperation in the direction of Azerbaijan’s integration to the Euro-Atlantic structures, combat against international terrorism.

Touching upon the Armenian-Azerbaijani, Nagorno Karabakh conflict, the deputy foreign minister of Azerbaijan, on behalf o the foreign minister invited the Bulgarian foreign minister in the capacity of the OSCE acting chairman to Azerbaijan and expressed his hope that this visit would coincide with the start of Bulgaria’s presidency at the Organization. Araz Azimov also stressed the necessity of peaceful resolution to the conflict and in the frame of international norms, saying activity of the OSCE Minsk Group should be increased.

Defense minister of Bulgaria Nikolay Svinarov stressed that his country attached great importance to enhancement of the relations with Azerbaijan, stated his adherence to cooperation on the international arena. The Minister, touching upon the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno Karabakh conflict, said that Bulgaria, during its presidency would make its contributions to this issue.

The parties had exchange of views on a number of other issues of mutual interest.
