AZERBAIJAN-FRENCH ECONOMIC RELATIONS TO DEVELOP
Having warmly welcomed the guests, the Minister noted that Azerbaijan - France relations have been dynamically developing, and important role in that belongs to both countries’ parliamentarians. “French Cultural Center being founded in Baku will promote rapprochement of our nations”, Mr. Aliyev said.
Senator Ambrose Dupont expressed his satisfaction with the meetings held in the frame of his visit to Azerbaijan. He noted French companies and entrepreneurs show high interest in Azerbaijan, and that a color producing joint venture would be opened in the republic soon.
Azerbaijan Minister for Economic Development dwelt on economic reforms being carried out in Azerbaijan, and privatization of the state property and land. The Minister said the government considers development of the agrarian sector as priority of the next year. “We are ready to study experience of the French agrarians”, he stated.
Farhad Aliyev urged the French companies to invest in Azerbaijan economy and reminded that a meeting with the French businesspersons operating in Turkey will be held in Baku, on November 2003.
The sides had thorough exchange of views on revival of the economic relations between the two countries. Chairman of France-Russia friendship group Patrice Gerard described Azerbaijan as a country one could envy the economic development, and pointed out the large progress it had achieved in the banking sphere.
The meeting was attended by the Chairman of Azerbaijan-France inter-parliamentary Friendship Group of Milli Majlis Gular Ahmadova and Ambassador of France in Baku Chantal Poiret.
