AZERBAIJAN, GREECE STRENGTHEN ENERGY COOPERATION
Baku, January 27 (AZERTAC). Deputy Foreign Minister of Greece Spyros Kouvelis and Azerbaijan`s Deputy Energy Minister Gulmammad Javadov have decided, in a meeting in Athens, to consolidate cooperation between the two countries in the fields of natural gas, renewable sources of energy, tourism, and culture.
The meeting was aimed at specifying and implementing the Memorandum of Cooperation that was signed by the Greek Deputy Foreign Minister and Azeri Deputy Energy Minister during Kouvelis` visit to Baku.
Particular emphasis was given on the part of Greece to smooth natural gas provisions from Azerbaijan through the TGI pipeline, and on the part of Azerbaijan, to the transfer of expertise on renewable sources of energy by Greek enterprises.
At the end of the meeting, the conclusion was reached that cooperation in the field of renewable sources of energy was of particular interest to the government of Azerbaijan. The government of Azerbaijan revised its national legislation accordingly and the delegation under its Deputy Energy Minister will have meetings with Greek businesspeople.
Present in the meeting was Greek Deputy Minister for Environment, Energy and Climate Change Yiannis Maniatis.
