As a part of the build-up to the European heavy athletics championship to be held May 1-8 in Poland, Azerbaijan national team led by senior coach Afset Afsetov and coach Soltan Karimov gathered for a training camp in the National Aviation Academy.

Senior coach included two heavyweight athlete in the national team in place of lightweight athletes.

The national team comprises Turan Mirzayev (69 kg), Afgan Bayramov (69 kg), Asif Mammadov (77 kg), Zaur Abdullayev (77 kg), Natig Hasanov (85 kg), Nizami Pashayev (94 kg), Alibey Samadov (94 kg), Alan Naniyev (105 kg).

The congress of the European Heavy Athletics Federation will precede the competition.

Vice-president of the Azerbaijan Heavy Athletics Federation Vahid Nazarov and secretary general Ismayil Ismayilov will partake in the congress. International referee Vahid Nazarov will be in charge of the competitions.
