AZERBAIJAN NAVAL FORCES VISITED RUSSIAN CASPIAN FLEET
The warships of Azerbaijan Naval Forces visited, September 26-28, one of the Caspian Russian Naval bases in the port of Astrakhan. It was the first visit of CIS members’ warships since founding of the commonwealth.
According to the Caspian Fleet Command, this visit may be considered as an initial stage of strengthening cooperation between Russian Navy and Naval Forces of Azerbaijan.
In the course of the visit, commander of Azerbaijan Naval Forces, rear admiral Shahin Sultanov met with commander of the Russian Caspian Fleet, rear admiral Yuriy Startsev, governor of Astrakhan oblast Anatoliy Gujvin and mayor of Astrakhan Igor Bezrukavnikov. Man-of-war's men of both countries visited each other’s ships. The meetings were followed by a concert of the Caspian Fleet Orchestra and Azerbaijan Naval Forces.
