AZERBAIJAN-PAKISTAN TIES TO FURTHER DEVELOP
Having greeted the diplomat, minister congratulated M. Khafiz on his appointment as ambassador to Azerbaijan and stressed that foundation of Azeraijani-Pakistani ties had been laid in the course of the meetings between the presidents in Baku and Islamabad in 1995-1996 and said that some agreements covering certain spheres had been signed between Azerbaijan and Pakistan. In the course of the sitting of the Organization of Islamic Conference held in 2000, President of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev met with President Pervez Musharraf and exchanged views on wide range of issues including military matters.
Ambassador Mohammad Hafiz reminded that he had got into office since November 2003 and emphasized the high level of Pakistan-Azerbaijan bilateral ties, meeting of positions of both countries in regional and international meetings. He reported that President Pervez Musharraf would soon arrive in Azerbaijan for an official visit, which is to initiate new stage of relations.
Pakistani diplomat said that the military cooperation is at desired level and while he was presenting his credentials to President Ilham Aliyev the latter paid a special attention to the state of Azerbaijani-Pakistani military ties.
Safar Abiyev said Azerbaijan awaits Pervez Musharraf’s visit to Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan has profound respect to Pakistani nation and President Pervez Musharraf.
