Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany Klaus Grewlich at his request on October 27.
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister, Ambassador Klaus Grewlich said:
Your Excellency, thank you for making time to receive me. First of all I would like to hand in a congratulation letter of the Federal Chancellor Mr. Schroeder.
Besides, let me wish welfare on the holy Ramadan month to you and all Muslims of Azerbaijan. Let this sacred month bring moral conformity and security to people.
It is an honor to live in your country. There is a special tolerance and friendship between religious communities in this country.
In his letter, the Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany congratulates on your election as a President and underlines that Azerbaijan is facing great tasks on the way of democracy and market economy. In addition, in his message, Mr. Federal Chancellor stresses that he is confident in the further development of the relationships between Azerbaijan and Germany.
Let me wish success on behalf of my own. Democracy and market economy are connected with establishment of a state. There cannot be any democracy without a legal state. No investments are brought by enterprises and one cannot speak on economic development if a country has not accepted the rules of legal state.
I have a small present for you. There is a painter in Germany, Kolbel. He drew portraits of all statesmen. Mr. Kolbel made a portrait of your father, President Heydar Aliyev. He wanted to present this portrait to you. However, previously he would like to display this portrait at his exhibition and requested your autograph. Mr. Kolbel asked to hand in this letter to you.
Your Excellency, I hope that you will become a President of peace and stability; President of economic and social development of your country, and your presidency will be accompanied by solidarity and national consent in the country. I wish that during the period of your presidency peace came both to your country and outside it.
Thank you again Your Excellency.
Having expressed gratitude to the German Ambassador for goods words, Prime Minister Ilham Aliyev said:
- Dear Mr. Ambassador, first of all, please convey my gratitude to the esteemed Chancellor Schroeder for the message.
The relations between Germany and Azerbaijan are developing intensively; we are cooperating successfully in all fields. Of course, we would like that this cooperation would be expanded in the future.
Economy of Azerbaijan is based on principles of market economy. Germany takes a leading position from the point of view of economic development. That is why your experience is very important for us. We study this issue; I am confidence that in the near future Azerbaijan will turn into an economically developed country. Private sector is developing in the country. The share of private sector in GDP exceeds 70 percent. You mentioned that development of market economy should go with development of democracy. Azerbaijan is stuck to principles of democracy, step by step actions will be taken in our country in the field of democracy.
Azerbaijan has good positions in the region it becomes more developed economically. We need stability and national solidarity for putting into life these plans. I am sure that stability in Azerbaijan will go on.
We will be continuing our efforts directed to foundation of a legal state and fulfillment of work in this field will turn Azerbaijan into a developed state.
Thank you for the present. It was a surprise for me, I ask you to convey my regards to the painter.
