AZERBAIJAN PRESIDENT’S VISIT TO KOREA ENCOURAGES AGRICULTURAL COOPERATION

Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan Ismet Abbasov 17 August met with the Korean ambassador to the country Lu Kwang-Chul.

Ismet Abbasov gratefully noted Korea’s position in settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict, emphasizing the trade turnover between the two countries reached 115 million US dollars. The Minister reminded the first meeting of the intergovernmental commission held in August last year in Baku.

At the Ministers words, in several fields the cooperation opportunities have already been defined. Preliminary accord on joint researches on storage of fruit-vegetable food has been reached. The Korean side pledged preparation and financing of the project.

The second meeting of the said Commission will be held current year 27-29 August in Baku, Ismet Abbasov said.

The Minister updated the Ambassador on the carried reforms in the country, the agricultural production. There is favorable environment for investing in the non-oil sector, the Minister stressed, inviting the Korean investors to work in the rural areas.

Lu Kwang-Chul reminded visit of the Azerbaijan President to Korea, noting that this visit had encouraged bilateral cooperation in numerous fields. The signed documents provide all-round cooperation. Currently the Korean businessmen implement about 40 projects in the country.

The diplomat shared his suggestions and impressions he gained during his visits to regions, in particular, related to applying up-to-date technologies in grape production, cultivation of new species, winemaking, creation of joint enterprises.
