AZERBAIJAN RANKS SIXTH AT EUROPEAN RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS CHAMPIONSHIP

Rhythmic gymnastics national team of Azerbaijan has ranked sixth among 27 participants at the European championship held in Kiev. Participant of coming Olympic games Dinara Gimatova and Anna Gurbanova garnered together 177.300 points while traditionally strong Bulgaria fell behind 7 points. In the individual all-round, D. Gimatova ranked tenth by garnering 86.950 while A. Gurbanova ranked 15 among 69 athletes with 85.4754

Thus, Azerbaijani gymnasts will compete in the Group “A”.

Russia became the European champion. Ukraine ranked second while Belarus ranked third. Alina Kabayeva became the five times champion. Ukrainian gymnast Anna Bessonova ranked second while Russian athlete Irina Chashina took the third spot.

Azerbaijani athletes are said to participate at the 10th international tournament in memory of 7 times world champion Oksana Kostina to be held in Irkutsk June 12-13.
