AZERBAIJAN`s REPUBLIC DAY MARKED IN DUBAI
Baku, May 27 (AZERTAC). The UAE-based Azerbaijan society has organized an event to mark May 28th Day of Republic.
The event brought together members of the Azerbaijani and Turkish communities, Iraqi Turkmen, representatives of the Diaspora organizations from European and Arabic countries.
Opening the event, head of the society Samir Imanov said the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was the first democratic and secular republic in the Muslim world.
He also highlighted national leader Heydar Aliyev`s efforts to solve problems that Azerbaijan faced during the first years of independence.
Imanov added President Ilham Aliyev successfully continues the national leader`s policy.
Touching upon the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, he said Armenia, not honoring resolutions of the UN Security Council and OIC, continues to occupy 20 percent of Azerbaijan`s territories.
Other speakers stressed the necessity of settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict for ensuring peace and stability in the region.
They also condemned the “parliamentary elections” held by the separatist regime in Azerbaijan`s Armenia-occupied Nagorno Karabakh region.
