AZERI RAILWAY OFFICIALS MEET HYUNDAI AND DAEWOO REPRESENTATIVES

Baku, May 15 (AZERTAC). Officials of the "Azerbaijan Railways" Closed Joint Stock Company (ADDY) have met representatives of Korean Hyundai and Daewoo companies.

ADDY`s deputy chairman Gurban Nazirov highlighted the organization`s activities and transport reforms in the country.

“A new era for Azerbaijan`s railway has started. Based on President Ilham Aliyev`s recommendations and tasks, a draft project of State Program on advancing the potential of ADDY for 2010-2014 has been developed. The program covers all necessary aspects to boost the development the main line of Azerbaijan.”

“The program also envisages reconstruction of a park for carriages and locomotives, improvement of electricity supply and communication. Under the project we plan to buy 50 new alternating current locomotives for the Baku-Boyuk Kesik road,” said Nazirov.

Nazirov said the Azeri Ministry of Transport was keen to cooperate with Korean companies in this regard.

The meeting featured an online presentation of Korean-made locomotives.
