Baku, February 27, AZERTAC
The Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC) and Kuwait's Union of Electronic Media have agreed to expand cooperation as the Union’s Chairman of the Board Faisal Khalifa as-Sawaq met with AZERTAC`s Chairman of the Board Aslan Aslanov.
During the meeting, they noted that the strengthening of the cooperation between AZERTAC and Kuwait's Union of Electronic Media could contribute to the development of relations between the two countries in various fields.
AZERTAC Chairman of Board Aslan Aslanov highlighted Azerbaijan’s victory in the Patriotic War. He noted that under the leadership of President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani army liberated its lands from the occupation within 44 days. “During the thirty years of occupation, the Azerbaijani towns and villages in these areas were subjected to unprecedented destruction. At the same time, mosques, cultural and historical monuments were destroyed. Reconstruction works are now underway in the liberated areas,” Aslan Aslanov said.
He reaffirmed AZERTAC’s interest in strengthening cooperation with the Kuwait's Union of Electronic Media, saying that the implementation of joint projects, regular exchange of information and experience would contribute to the development of relations and provide a great opportunity for two peoples to get acquainted more closely with each other.
Aslan Aslanov also highlighted the activities of AZERTAC in international media organizations, as well as the agency’s cooperation with Kuwait’s KUNA and other Arabic-language media outlets.
Noting that he was impressed with what he saw during his visit to the liberated lands of Azerbaijan, Faisal Khalifa as-Sawaq said: "Insulting mosques is unacceptable. This is the position of the entire Islamic world. Yesterday Azerbaijan marked the anniversary of the Khojaly genocide. We always share this deep sorrow of the Azerbaijani people."
He said that as part of his visit to the country, he also attended President Ilham Aliyev’s press conference for representatives of local and foreign media hosted in Baku. He emphasized that the head of state had responded to journalists’ questions in a very precise and detailed manner. “I am convinced once again that Azerbaijan is a state capable of protecting its independence,” he mentioned.
Faisal Khalifa as-Sawaq expressed their readiness to provide financial support for the opening of AZERTAC's representative office in Kuwait. He said the representative offices would create broad opportunities for more efficient promotion of the two countries.
