AZERTAC, Yonhap news agencies’ chiefs meet in Hanoi

OANA President, AZERTAC Chairman of the Board Aslan Aslanov has met with President and CEO of Yonhap News Agency Cho Sung-boo on the sidelines of the 44th Executive Board meeting of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) in Hanoi, Vietnam.

The sides discussed the results of a long-term cooperation between the news agencies, underlining the positive dynamics of bilateral relations. They hailed the AZERTAC-Yonhap relations, and stressed the necessity of expanding the current ties both in bilateral format and within the OANA.

Aslan Aslanov praised the friendly relations not only between the two agencies, but also the two states. He recalled his trip to Seoul, during which he familiarized himself with the work of Korean colleagues and which saw the signing of cooperation agreement between AZERTAC and Yonhap.

AZERTAC Chairman of Board pointed to dozens of Korean companies operating in Azerbaijan. Inviting Yonhap President to Baku, Aslan Aslanov stressed that during his visit to Azerbaijan he will see the Korean goods everywhere in the country.

President and CEO of Yonhap News Agency Cho Sung-boo thanked OANA President Aslan Aslanov for the invitation and praised the high level of bilateral relations between the two agencies. He emphasized the necessity of increasing efforts for further development of cooperation.

The next OANA General Assembly will be held in Seoul this November, during which Chairmanship of the organization will be passed from AZERTAC to the Korean Yonhap news agency.

Co-organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and AZERTAC, the 5th News Agencies World Congress, and the 16th OANA General Assembly were held on November 16-18, 2016 in Baku. President Ilham Aliyev attended a joint opening ceremony of the 5th News Agencies World Congress and the 16th OANA General Assembly and made a speech at the event. Following these events, AZERTAC assumed the presidency of both News Agencies World Congress and OANA for 2016-2019.
