A meeting of the News Agencies World Council (NACO) has been held at the London-based headquarters of the UK’s PA Media (formerly Press Association).
Representatives of AZERTAC (Azerbaijan), TASS (Russia), EFE (Spain), BTA (Bulgaria), SPA (Saudi Arabia), MAP (Morocco), Agerpress (Romania) and the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) attended the meeting, while the representatives of Reuters and the Austrian APA news agency, who is currently chairing the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA) joined the meeting through videoconferencing.
The meeting discussed preparations for the 7th News Agencies World Congress to be held in Morocco from November 30 to December 1 this year. The NACO approved the following theme for the Congress: "The future of news agencies in a post-pandemic world." The NACO members also agreed on the topics of the four panel sessions.
A video presentation by Morocco news agency MAP highlighted the venue of the Congress, technical equipment, as well as logistics issues such as a traditional cultural program designed for such large-scale events.
The Council’s next meeting will be held on June 24 in London.
The 5th News Agencies World Congress was held in November 2016 in Baku.
