Chairman of the Board of AZERTAC Aslan Aslanov on behalf of the staff has sent a letter of congratulation to Russia’s oldest information agency TASS as the agency marks its 115th anniversary.
The letter of congratulation underlines that during its activity TASS has made a great path of development and turned into a brand of global news industry.
“We can say with confidence that the agency’s constant commitment to its standards and principles deserves great respect. TASS has become a real school for many generations of journalists, formed not only professionalism in them, but also high humane qualities, responsibility and constant self-improvement efforts. The agency is always in search of creativity, actively uses the latest technology in its work, strives not only to keep up with the time, but also to stay ahead of it,” Aslan Aslanov says in his message.
TASS announced the “Day of open doors” on September 1. Director General Sergey Mikhaylov and First Deputy Director General Mikhail Gusman accepted congratulations from their colleagues and friends on the occasion of the jubilee. Russian President Vladimir Putin, Patriarch Kirill, Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, and others sent letters of congratulation to the TASS staff.
TASS was established as Saint-Petersburg Telegraph Agency on September 1, 1904 and became a unique resource disseminating state information of the Russian Empire. During the former USSR era, the agency functioned under the name of Telegraph Agency of the Soviet Union. Azerinform was also a branch of it along with information agencies of other allied republics then.
Today TASS is one of Russia’s largest news resources in the world. TASS delivers more than 100 news products covering political, economic, social, and cultural and sports events at home and around the globe, with non-stop news flow in Russian and English.
TASS Photo is the oldest news agency in Russia specializing in photo-reporting, delivering daily the latest images on major news stories and events in Russia (60-100 pictures).
AZERTAC and TASS enjoy high level of relations. Both agencies support each other within international information organizations - the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA), Association of National Information Agencies (ANIA) of CIS member states and other transnational information organizations. Each agency successfully chaired OANA, and the News Agencies World Congress which includes world’s 130 leading media organizations. AZERTAC and TASS are also co-founders of the CIS Information Council.
AZERTAC and TASS, which are the leading information agencies of Azerbaijan and Russia today carry out joint projects, organize thematic exhibitions and have an active exchange of news. Under the bilateral agreement on exchange of information and experience, the two agencies carry out master classes, as well as organize visits of employees including both journalists and technical personnel.
