Al Fajr newspaper: Azerbaijan has made great strides under President Ilham Aliyev”

UAE-based Al Fajr has published an article by Editor-in-chief of the newspaper Sherif Al Bassel headlined “Azerbaijan has made great strides under President Ilham Aliyev”.

The article says that in the course of 13 years of President Ilham Aliyev`s tenure, Azerbaijan has become one of the world`s fastest growing economies, made it to the ranks of developed countries and earned influence in leading regional and international organizations.

The newspaper says that Ilham Aliyev actively joined the process of building a democratic Azerbaijan after the return to power of national leader Heydar Aliyev back in 1993. “In the capacity of the first Vice-President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic, he contributed considerably to the implementation of the oil strategy worked out by national leader Heydar Aliyev.”

Al Bassel highlights Ilham Aliyev`s activities as an MP, President of the National Olympic Committee, leader of the Azerbaijani Parliament’s delegation to PACE and his election as Deputy Chair of PACE and its Bureau member.

The article hails President Ilham Aliyev`s successful energy policy, which channels oil revenues into comprehensive development of Azerbaijan. “This allowed Azerbaijan to have grown into the most powerful state in the region from political, economic and military points of view.”

The newspaper also praises President Ilham Aliyev`s commitment to developing tourism, industry and agriculture, as well as Azerbaijan`s large energy and transportation projects of regional and international importance.

Al Bassel also lauds President Ilham Aliyev’s role in strengthening and modernizing the Azerbaijani army.

The article describes the election of Azerbaijan as a member of the UN Security Council, voted by 155 counties, as a remarkable triumph of Azerbaijan`s foreign policy.

The newspaper also highlights Azerbaijan-UAE relations, hailing the role of President Ilham Aliyev in strengthening the bilateral ties.
