Algerian media highlights meeting on 30th anniversary of Azerbaijan-UN partnership held as part of Year of Shusha

Algeria’s “Al-Shuruq”, “Al Hivar” newspapers, as well as “Al-Harir” news portal have posted an article by Chargé d'Affaires of Azerbaijan’s Embassy in the country Rafail Baghirov highlighting the meeting on the 30th anniversary of Azerbaijan-UN partnership held as part of Year of Shusha in Azerbaijan.
The article mentioned that the meeting was held in the city of Shusha, which was liberated from the Armenian occupation.
The article quoted Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, Head of Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmat Hajiyev as saying during his speech at the Shusha meeting: “In approximately two months after Azerbaijan joined the United Nations, Shusha was occupied by Armenian armed forces, and the Azerbaijanis were expelled from their native cities and lands. However, Shusha was liberated following the 44-day Patriotic War, and today the Azerbaijan’s ancient cultural capital is a rapidly changing, rebuilt city.”
The article emphasized that President Ilham Aliyev declared 2022 as the “Year of Shusha” in Azerbaijan.
The author provided insight into rich history, cultural heritage, ancient monuments of Shusha, adding that the city gave birth to many eminent personalities including famous artists, musicians and poets.
The article also highlighted the ongoing restoration and reconstruction of historical, cultural and religious heritage in Azerbaijan`s liberated territories, which was destroyed during the decades-long Armenian occupation.
