Ambassador: Azerbaijan, Mexico enjoy close relations

Mexican ambassador to Azerbaijan Juan Rodrigo Labardini Flores has hailed his country's close relationship with Azerbaijan. In an interview with journalists, he praised the rapid development of political and trade relations between two countries across last three years. “Mexico and Azerbaijan enjoy close relations,” he said.
On the development of political relations, the Ambassador pointed out the significance of the continued mechanism of political consultations between Azerbaijan and Mexico over nine years.
Emphasizing successful cooperation in the fields of education, tourism, trade and industry, the ambassador noted that trade relations between Azerbaijan and Mexico have strongly developed over the past three years.
The Mexican ambassador described the signing of the Amended and Restated Agreement on the Joint Development and Production Sharing for the Azeri and Chirag fields and the Deep Water Portion of the Gunashli field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea as a landmark event. “We know that historical Contract of the Century was signed in 1994 and the one signed today is the new century’s agreement. We believe this agreement will open up new opportunities for Azerbaijan, which is turning into a logistics and information center,” the ambassador added.
