Ambassador: Cuba has always supported the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan

Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Azerbaijan Alfredo Fidel Nieves Portuondo said that his country has always supported the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan as Azerbaijan`s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov has met with him on the occasion of the completion of his diplomatic mission in the country.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov hailed the existing cooperation between the two friendly countries, Azerbaijan and Cuba, both bilaterally and multilaterally, and the high-level political dialogue between them. The Minister expressed gratitude for the support of Cuba, as an active member of the Non-Aligned Movement , within Azerbaijan`s chairmanship of this organization, as well as the positive contribution of the friendly country in the implementation of the priorities of the chairmanship.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said that education of the Cuban students in the country within the scholarship program established by the Azerbaijani government for the Non-Aligned Movement member states will make a positive contribution to the expansion of relations between the two nations. The ambassador was also informed that the arrival of a group of doctors from Cuba to Azerbaijan during the pandemic was met with great sympathy by the Azerbaijani people.

Ambassador Alfredo Fidel Nieves Portuondo thanked for the attention and support shown to him during his tenure in Azerbaijan and praised the hospitality of the Azerbaijani people. He recalled with satisfaction the visit of the President of the Republic of Cuba to Azerbaijan to attend the Non-Aligned Movement Baku Summit. He stressed that his country has always supported the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

The sides also exchanged views on prospects for the development of relations between the two countries.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov thanked Ambassador Alfredo Fidel Nieves Portuondo for his contribution to the development of relations between the two countries and wished him success in his future activities.
