AzerTAc, Saudi Press Agency sign MoU on cooperation in information exchange VIDEO
Baku, May 30 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency (AZERTAC) and Saudi Press Agency (SPA) have today signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of information exchange on the sidelines of a forthcoming Baku meeting of the Council of the News Agencies World Congress (NAWC).
The document was signed by Chairman of the NAWC, President of SPA Abdullah bin Fahd al-Hussein and Director General of AZERTAC Aslan Aslanov.
Under the memorandum, the two agencies will expand the exchange of news, experience, photo and journalists. The memorandum will also see AZERTAC and SPA enhance their bilateral cooperation in regional and international organizations.
Speaking to the signing ceremony, both Mr. Aslanov and Mr. Al-Hussein expressed confidence the memorandum would make “an important” contribution to boosting the cooperation in the field of information exchange between Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia.
Following the signing ceremony Abdullah bin Fahd al-Hussein and Aslan Aslanov had a meeting.
Director General Aslanov provided an insight into the history and activities of AZERTAC, particularly its international ties. He said AZERTAC was founded in 1920 under the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, which was the first democratic state in the East.
Mr. Aslanov hailed AZERTAC-SPA cooperation, saying the two agencies had been “successfully collaborating” under the News Agencies World Congress and the Organization of the Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA).
Mr. Aslanov stressed the significance of the memorandum of understanding.
Abdullah bin Fahd al-Hussein hailed his visit to Azerbaijan, noting he was “deeply” impressed by ongoing reconstruction work in Baku.
Mr. Al-Hussein said the signing of the MoU would contribute to improving the information exchange between the national news agencies of Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan.
Abdullah bin Fahd al-Hussein then met with the staff of AZERTAC, and responded to their questions.
