Azerbaijan, International Committee of Red Cross mull on cooperation

Chairman of Azerbaijan's State Committee for Refugees and IDPs, Rovshan Rzayev has met Elena Aymone Sessera, head of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Azerbaijan. At the meeting, the sides discussed mutual relations, the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and humanitarian cooperation.
Rovshan Rzayev thanked for the humanitarian programs implemented by the International Committee of the Red Cross for IDPs, recalling the visits to the occupied Jajuq Marjanli village of Jabrayil region, meetings and discussions with the residents. Stressing the support of the Committee, he also emphasized that the organization was an important international humanitarian partner for Azerbaijan.
At the meeting, chairman of Azerbaijan's State Committee gave detailed information on the work carried out under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev in the direction of solving social problems of refugees and internally displaced persons and improving their living conditions. At the initiative of the First Vice President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva, Azerbaijan carries out consistent and purposeful projects in this direction, Rovshan Rzayev added.
Rzayev expressed concern over the torture of Dilgam Asgarov and Shahbaz Guliyev, who were taken hostage by the Armenian Armed Forces while trying to visit their homelands and the graves of their relatives in the occupied Kalbajar district.
In turn, Elena Aymone Sessera spoke of the working principle of the organization and the activities of the Azerbaijani representation. She gave detailed information about the projects implemented by the organization in the villages located near the frontline and highly appreciated the activities of the local structures.
The sides had comprehensive discussion of the prospects of bilateral cooperation and issues of mutual interest.
