Azerbaijan, Italy ‘enjoy strong friendly ties’
Baku, May 7 (AZERTAC). Chairman of the Italian Senate`s Defence Commission Nicola Latorre has praised his country`s relations with Azerbaijan.
“Italy and Azerbaijan enjoy strong friendly ties’,” he told Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ogtay Asadov as they met in Baku.
Latorre hailed the economic cooperation between the two countries, saying there was huge potential for expanding the bilateral relations on this front.
He noted that Azerbaijan was a stable country although it had a complicated geopolitical location.
Latorre also spoke of the TAP project, and hailed what had been done to ensure the implementation of the project.
Parliament Speaker Asadov said Italy was one of the major partners of Azerbaijan in Europe. He hailed trade between the two countries, noting it had been increasing yearly.
The Parliament Speaker highlighted Azerbaijan’s role in ensuring Europe’s energy security.
He noted that the “Shahdeniz-2” Final Investment Decision was signed last year under the project aimed at transporting the Azerbaijani gas to Europe.
Asadov also praised the activities of the friendship groups at both countries’ parliaments.
