Azerbaijan, South Africa discuss bilateral cooperation

Azerbaijan`s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has met with Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa Alvin Botes on the sidelines of the 18th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in Baku.
The sides hailed the current state of bilateral relations and emphasized the prospects of further enhancing cooperation in economic, trade and other spheres.
The sides stressed the important role of the diplomatic missions operating in the two countries in developing the Azerbaijan-South Africa relations and maintaining political contacts. They noted that successful bilateral cooperation within the framework of reciprocal visits and international forums continues to meet the interests of both countries. In this regard, Minister Mammadyarov described his visit to South Africa as a good example of this cooperation.
Elmar Mammadyarov noted with satisfaction that the Republic of South Africa is one of the key partners of Azerbaijan among the African Union countries and stressed the importance of cooperation in energy and other spheres.
Alvin Botes pointed out that his country is interested in expanding trade relations.
FM Mammadyarov also paid attention to the importance of coordinated activities between the NAM and G-77.
The sides also exchanged views on other global and regional issues of mutual interest.
