Azerbaijan, U.S. discuss prospects for cooperation
Baku, February 15 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan and the U.S. have discussed prospects for cooperation at one of the oldest universities of the United States, the College of William & Mary.
Azerbaijani Ambassador Elin Suleymanov addressed the professors and students of the College of William & Mary, the second oldest university of the U.S. located in a historic Williamsburg city of Virginia
Ambassador Suleymanov spoke about the current state, problems and prospects of the Azerbaijan-U.S. relations.
Noting the strategic character of the relations between the two countries, the Ambassador said t Azerbaijan shared common interests with the U.S. in the fight against terrorism, and energy projects. He said the reliable partnership was established between the countries.
Touching on regional energy and infrastructure projects, Suleymanov said Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway and TANAP projects would contribute to the general view and environment of the region. He noted the necessity of the political will of the U.S. government in the implementation of these projects.
Suleymanov highlighted history and consequences of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, saying a fair solution to the conflict, mediated by the U.S. co-chaired Minsk Group would open new prospects for the development of the region.
During his visit to Virginia, Suleymanov met Mayor of the city of Williamsburg Clyde Haulman to exchange views on potential opportunities for collaboration.
