Azerbaijani Defence Minister meets Commander of Special Forces of Turkish Armed Forces

Baku, November 7, AZERTAC

Azerbaijani Defence Minister Zakir Hasanov has met Commander of the Special Forces of the Turkish Armed Forces Zekai Aksakalli.

Mr. Hasanov highlighted military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey, saying it is steadily developing. “This cooperation was built on the foundations of strategic partnership and fraternal relations,” he added.

On the military-political situation in the region, the Minister said the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was a main threat to regional stability and stressed the importance of resolving the dispute in line with international law.

Mr. Aksakalli praised preparedness, equipment and maintenance of the Azerbaijani Special Forces.

He highlighted the significance of experience exchange between the two countries' Special Forces, and stressed the necessity of enhancing cooperation in the field of training and education.

He said Turkey has always been a partner of Azerbaijan.

Turkish Ambassador Ismail Alper Coskun was also present at the meeting.
