Azerbaijani Energy Minister to attend TAP groundbreaking ceremony

Baku, May 13, AZERTAC

Azerbaijan`s Minister of Energy Natig Aliyev will take part in the groundbreaking ceremony of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) to be held in Thessaloniki, Greece, on May 17.

The event will bring together top officials of the U.S., Greece, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Albania, Italy and Bulgaria, as well as representatives of the European Union.

Connecting with the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) at the Greek-Turkish border, TAP will cross Northern Greece, Albania and the Adriatic Sea before coming ashore in Southern Italy to connect to the Italian natural gas network.

Once built, TAP will offer a direct and cost-effective transportation route opening up the vital Southern Gas Corridor, a 3500-kilometre long gas value chain stretching from the Caspian Sea to Europe.
