Azerbaijani FM meets with Secretary General of Turkic Council

Azerbaijan`s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with a delegation led by Baghdad Amreyev, the Secretary General of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States (Turkic Council).
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov hailed the activities of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States, the increase in the number of participating countries, the successful hosting of the last summit of the organization in Baku and its results, as well as Azerbaijan's cooperation with the organization. The cooperation of the Turkic Council with international and regional organizations, as well as the issue of the status of the organization within international platforms was noted.
The Minister thanked the Secretary-General, emphasizing the principled position of the Turkic Council based on the norms and principles of international law, primarily the UN Security Council resolutions as well as the decisions of the other international organizations on the aggressive policy of Armenia, which is a major threat to Azerbaijan's security.
Baghdad Amreyev appreciated Azerbaijan's participation and role in the Turkic Council. Noting that the last Baku Summit was a qualitatively new stage in the organization's activities, the Secretary-General pointed out the steps that are being taken to implement closer cooperation and integration on a wide range of issues within the organization. Congratulating Azerbaijan on its successful chairmanship of the Turkic Council, Baghdad Amreyev spoke about the summit held in the format of a video conference upon the initiative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the fight against the pandemic, as well as other video meetings in different spheres of cooperation, and expressed confidence that Azerbaijan will successfully continue to lead the organization until the next chairmanship.
It was noted that the Turkic Council always supported Azerbaijan's position which is based on justice and international law.
During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on the cooperation agenda in a wide range of areas within the Turkic Council, the holding of the next summit, as well as the ways for further development of the organization.
