Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry: Greek and Latvian MPs` visit to occupied territories is prejudice and incitement
Baku, April 12, AZERTAC
Azerbaijan`s Foreign Ministry has described a visit by Greek and Latvian MPs to the Armenia-occupied lands as prejudice and incitement.
“They illegally visited the territories of Azerbaijan, which are occupied by Armenia. They ignored the fact that the Armenians conducted an ethnic cleansing of more than a million Azerbaijanis on these lands, they ignored recent provocations of the Armenian armed forces on the line of the troops` contact when they shelled Azerbaijani settlements along the frontline, killing and wounding civilians. This is a biased approach and incitement,” the ministry`s spokesman Hikmat Hajiyev said in a statement.
“This runs contrary to Greece`s and Latvia`s positions on the peaceful settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict in compliance with international law and also to the spirit of cooperation between our legislative bodies. Such a one-sided move encourages Armenia`s provocative actions and escalates the already tense situation.”
Hajiyev said the appropriate authorities of Greece and Latvia would be informed of official Baku`s concern about the matter through Azerbaijan`s embassies.
