Azerbaijani MPs join 6th session of Asian Parliamentary Assembly
Islamabad, December 11 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijani parliamentarians Mubariz Gurbanli and Asef Hajiyev have attended the 6th session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly in Islamabad, Pakistan.
The event featured a wide range of issues, including how to stimulate free trade among countries of the region, protect rights of migrants and Palestinians, ensure peace and stability in Afghanistan and settle disputes among the continent countries peacefully.
Addressing the event, Azerbaijani MP Asef Hajiyev noted the importance of settlement of conflicts for establishment of peace and stability in the continent.
The MP also gave information on the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, saying as a result of the occupation of 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s territories by Armenia more than 1 million Azerbaijanis became IDPs.
He noted Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity must be restored on the basis of international norms and principles.
Mr Hajiyev said Azerbaijan attaches special importance to using information and communication technologies along with being a leading energy country.
The session culminated in the adoption of an Islamabad Declaration.
The next session of the APA will be held in Cambodia.
