Azerbaijani chess player vying for medals at World Junior Championship

Azerbaijani chess player Agil Pirverdiyev is competing in the World Junior Championship 2016 in India.

The tournament brings together 83 male players, including 9 grandmasters and 59 female players, including 4 GMs.

The 13-round championship will last till August 22.

The Championship is organized and conducted by All Orissa Chess Association at KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India under the auspices of AICF and FIDE.

Russian GM Vladislav Artemiev and American GM Jeffrey Xiong are the top two seeds of the mega junior event.
