Azerbaijani transport minister: Construction of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway will be completed in 2014
Baku, July 19 (AZERTAC). Construction work in the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway project is going on, Azerbaijani Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov said while addressing the Cabinet meeting on socio-economic development of the country in the first half of 2013 presided over by President Ilham Aliyev.
“The BTK section that stretches to the Turkish border will end later this year. At the same time, a 2-km area with 4.2-kilometer-long tunnel on the border with Turkey and Georgia has been dug and the work in this direction is continuing,” the minister said.
"Despite the delay due to difficult terrain and adverse climatic conditions in the area of the Georgian-Turkish border, the construction of the BTK will end in 2014," Mammadov added.
