Azerbaijan`s Milli Majlis hosts meeting with PACE co-rapporteurs

Baku, June 5, AZERTAC
Chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee for International Relations and Interparliamentary Ties, head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Samad Seyidov has met with visiting co-rapporteurs of PACE Monitoring Committee.
Samad Seyidov highlighted the current situation in the region after the 44-day Patriotic War as well as the restoration and construction projects implemented by Azerbaijan in liberated lands and large-scale projects to return refugees and IDPs to their homeland.
Noting the fact that the massive mine contamination of the liberated areas by Armenia hinders the reconstruction works carried out by Azerbaijan, the chairman of the committee stressed the importance of mobilizing international cooperation and assistance to support the safe return of IDPs and the demining process.
Seyidov also informed the co-rapporteurs about Azerbaijan's efforts, practical steps, and relevant confidence-building measures aimed at ensuring long-term peace and stability in the region.
The speakers at the meeting highlighted the importance of signing a peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia to build confidence in the region and achieve lasting peace and security.
Speaking about their visits and meetings in Azerbaijan, co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) for the monitoring of Azerbaijan Ian Liddell-Grainger (UK) and Lise Christoffersen (Norway) addressed their questions on the issues related to the development of regional cooperation as well as strengthening peace and security.
