Azerbaijan`s parliamentary committee discusses TANAP memorandum
Baku, February 12 (AZERTAC). The Committee on natural resources, energy and environment of Azerbaijan`s parliament has discussed a draft law on approval of an agreement with the Turkish government concerning construction of Trans Anatolian Gas Pipeline, known as TANAP project.
During the discussions parliamentarians said the memorandum was of great importance in terms of transportation of Azerbaijani gas to the world markets through Turkey and diversification of the country`s energy export routes.
The MPs agreed that the Memo was in the interests of Azerbaijan.
The bill will be submitted to the parliament for approval.
“The Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Turkey on construction of an independent pipeline for the transit of natural gas from the Republic of Azerbaijan through the Republic of Turkey and for transportation of natural gas from the Republic of Turkey” was signed December 24, 2011 in Ankara.
