BAKU HOSTS TENTH GERMANY-AZERBAIJAN BUSINESS FORUM
Baku, 13 August (AZERTAG). The 10th Germany-Azerbaijan business forum organized by the Germany-Azerbaijan Economic Assistance Union (DAWF) has been held today at the Park INN Azerbaijan hotel. The event has brought together Mr. Günther Oettinger, Prime Minister of Baden-Wurttemberg and over 10 German businessmen, representing oil and gas sector, construction, machine-building, chemical companies, as well as electronics, agriculture, etc. Also the event was attended by over 100 business leaders from Azerbaijan.
Making an opening address, President of DAWF Marco Graff updated the forum participants on impetuous economic development of Azerbaijan amid the global financial downturn and German companies operating in Azerbaijan.
On the economic ties between Azerbaijan and Germany, Prime Minister of Baden-Wurttemberg Mr. Günther Oettinger emphasized that energy resources play a crucial role in bilateral trade relations. According to Mr. Oettinger, Azerbaijan delivers oil products to Germany and industrial enterprises of Baden-Wurttemberg are set to establish business contacts with Azerbaijani colleagues. To date, Azerbaijan and Germany signed 27 documents related to economic cooperation, paving the way for further development of relations in this field.
Minister of Agriculture Ismet Abasov stressed government of Germany takes an active part in the large-scale economic reforms including agrarian ones being implemented in Azerbaijan. Abasov expressed assurance that the event will help attract investments into the agrarian production and processing industry of Azerbaijan and development of agrobusiness.
