BILL “ON NATIONAL SECURITY” ADOPTED
As informs AzerTAj, during the discussions of the current questions, the deputies made a number of offers, including requirement of the report on activity of parliamentary delegation of Azerbaijan at the last sessions of Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
Chairman of standing committee of Milli Majlis on the international relations and inter-parliamentary links, head of the parliamentary delegation of Azerbaijan at PACE Samad Seyidov has cleared up the lifted questions. He told: “After the admission of Azerbaijan into the Council of Europe under the leadership of the head of the parliamentary delegation Ilham Aliyev, a number of successes has been achieved. Recognition of Armenia as aggressor state in the documents adopted by the Parliamentary Assembly recently, is a bright victory of our delegation. And Ilham Aliyev’s statement at the last session of PACE as the President of Azerbaijan represented special value.
The question on admission of Northern Cyprus to the structure with the observer status is misrepresented in some mass media. Before the beginning of discussions, the participants were notified the opinion of legal committee of PACE, whereby it was stated that admission of Northern Cyprus to PACE in any status would push to a similar step and other self-proclaimed "republics". Taking into account it, the delegation of parliament of Azerbaijan was guided by the state interests and did not take part in voting on the said question.
After information of Samad Seyidov, the majority of deputies have positively estimated activity of the delegation.
Then, discussed was the bill “On national security”. Deputies have brought in a number of the offers connected to the document, have stated the remarks under some clauses.
After representatives of the ministries of national security and defense have expressed their attitude to the lifted questions, the project has been put on voting and adopted in the second reading.
Then, Milli Majlis made amendments in some legislative acts of Azerbaijan Republic. Validity of the old Soviet passports, which are in use of citizens of the Azerbaijan Republic, was prolonged till June 30, 2005, changed the rules connected to entry to the higher schools.
