Baku hosts international conference on prevention of child marriages

Baku has today hosted an international conference on “Strengthening efforts for prevention of child marriages” co-organized by the Azerbaijan State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

The conference brings together delegations from Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Iran and other countries.

The event featured speeches and discussions on the prevention of child marriages, strengthening of the defense mechanism, protection, rehabilitation and reintegration of victims of violation into the society.

According to the international practice and convention, child marriages are violation of laws.

The conference will feature sessions on “Strengthening of opportunities for prevention of child marriages”, “Increasing of opportunities for education of girls” and “Information and services on healthcare”.

The video clip “Say “No” to child marriage” will be demonstrated at the conference.
