British MP criticises Armenia`s intention to reopen Khojaly airport

Baku, February 14 (AZERTAC). Armenia`s intention to reopen the Khojaly airport will harm the negations on the peaceful settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, British MP Chris Heaton-Harris told the European Azerbaijan Society.

He noted he knew the impact of tragic event which occurred in Nagorno-Karabakh as he visited the region.

“That is why the proposal to re-open the airport at Khojaly is so damaging,” the MP noted.

“It not only ignores international law, but also conjures up memories of the civilians who died when forced out of their homes in that town just twenty one years ago. Any plans to re-open the airport at Khojaly would be counterproductive.” Chris Heaton-Harris added.
