CIS PARLIAMENTARY ASSEMBLY OBSERVERS SATISFIED WITH PROCESS OF PREPARATIONS FOR ELECTIONS
Having warmly welcomed the guests Milli Majlis chairman said, the Government of Azerbaijan exerted its capabilities to conduct these elections in democratic, free and transparent environment. The new Election Code allows holding the democratic elections. Along with this, the monitoring of elections from the international observers and their conclusions are of great significance for a young democratic Azerbaijan. That is why, shortly after announcement of elections Milli Majlis appealed to world’s parliaments and international organization to come and monitor the elections.
Later on, Murtuz Alaskarov updated the guests on equal conditions created for presidential contenders, acquisition of transparent ballot boxes, etc.
On behalf of the leadership of the CIS Parliamentary Assembly Constantine Markelov expressed gratitude to Murtuz Alaskarov for invitation. He said that upcoming presidential elections are of great significance for Azerbaijan, and as the whole world community, Russia and CIS Parliamentary Assembly are watching this process with interest. 14 deputies from 9 countries-members of the Parliamentary Assembly will attend polling stations and watch the course of voting. Besides, representatives of the CIS Executive Committee will also observe the voting. Every country can have certain difficulties and discrepancies on the day of elections. The guest expressed satisfaction with the results of preliminary observations and hoped for democratic holding of elections.
