A conference titled “Trade Unions and transnational companies” organized by Azerbaijani Confederation of Trade Unions and International Labor Organization took place in Baku, on December 15.
Chairman of the Confederation Sattar Mehbaliyev stressed the significance of the transnational companies in formation of labor relations and attraction of the investments. Mr. Mehbaliyev underlined that over 3600 transnational companies from 63 countries were functioning in the country. Today`s conference is aimed at preparation of the recommendations to conduct negotiations with transnational companies and create trade unions with observing the employees` rights.
Representative of ILO`s Moscow office Sten Toft Peretson told of role of the trade unions under the financial crisis.
Conference participants delivered reports on “Mutual cooperation of employers and trade unions in transnational companies”, “Observance of labor legislation” and others.
