CONTRACT ON AZERI SATELLITE MANUFACTURE SIGNED

Baku, May 27 (AZERTAC). The Azerbaijani ICT Minisry`s International relations and accounting center (IRAC) and US Orbital Sciences Corporation have signed a contract on satellite manufacture.

IRAC Director Jalil Jafarov and Vice-President of Orbital Sciences Corporation Michael Larkin signed a version of the document taking into account recommendations of governmental agencies and consulting companies.

Azerbaijan and Malaysian Measat Satellite Systems earlier signed an agreement providing a framework for the joint development of the 46.0°E orbital slot.

ICT Minister Ali Abbasov said the satellite project will be implemented in accordance with President`s order. Orbital Sciences Corporation will produce the satellite within 26 months. It is going to be put into orbit in 2012.

US chargé d`affaires Donald Lu touched on the importance of the project and underlined the importance of US-Azerbaijan cooperation in this field.
